Renault Grand Scenic 7 Seater Car Review

Seating Of Renault Grand Scenic

The back two rows of the Renault Grand Scenic 7 seater  car are surprisingly more spacious than a lot of models within this range; it is said that even adults can sit on the back row so that gives it an advantage already above some others in this class. However, rather bizarrely, the middle seats cannot be flattened. They can be leant forward, such as with the front seats on any other vehicle or they can be removed. This can be a negative selling point if you’d prefer the vehicle for transporting equipment rather than people.

Storage Of Renault Grand Scenic

Storage is something that a lot of 7 seater cars trade on but with a variety of approaches to the problem especially when trying to keep the vehicle as small as possible. With all seats up, the boot space is approximately 208 litres – which should be enough for a small camping trip and a couple of flattened buggies. However, when the middle row is removed and the back row seats are flat, it is reported to have over 2000 litres. Some review sites say this makes it “practically as spacious as a van”. Extra space has also been made in the form of under seating bins.

Access Of Renault Grand Scenic

This is one issue often most problematic to 7 seater cars but the Scenic seems to have handled it rather well. With wide doors and plenty of head and foot space (it is slightly taller than most vehicles in its class); it is easy to get in and out. Adults can fit on the back row with a decent level of comfort which gives it an advantage if this is required. Review sites say that there are more comfortable vehicles for long distance driving though.

Parking Of Renault Grand Scenic

Unlike most other basic 7 seater cars, the Grand Scenic comes with rear parking sensors as standard. Its compact exterior means that it is relatively easy to get in and out of most parking spaces. Most interestingly, the door is not in a normal hinge but can open in increments to ease access without worrying about damaging adjacent vehicles where parking spaces are smaller than standard. Dimensions are as follows: 4560mm in length, 2077mm wide and 1678mm in height.

Models Of Renault Grand Scenic

The Renault Grand Scenic 7 seater at present comes only in the “Dynamique” model. However, it is possible to vary the features of your vehicle within this range and there are up to eleven variations. All variations come with TomTom sat nav. It is available in diesel and unleaded petrol variations and engine sizes are between 1.6L and 2.0L

Fuel Economy Of Renault Grand Scenic

Testing on these Renault 7 seaters has demonstrated a typical fuel consumption of: 36.7

mpg (combined) 45.6mpg (extra urban) and 27.2mpg (urban). This is slightly less efficient than comparable models from other manufacturers, especially for the urban rate.

Safety Of Renault Grand Scenic

The Grand Scenic 7 seater rated highly on the NCAP tests, receiving a 5 star rating overall in 2009: 91% for adult occupants, 76% for child occupants, 42% for pedestrian and 99% for its safety assistant rating. There are ISOFIX points on the middle row, making installation of certain car seats easier. ABS brakes, Electronic stability programme (ESP), EBD and Brake Assistant all come as standard. These devices make control of the vehicle easier in slippery conditions, giving that extra peace of mind.
